Those who claim that Church moral teaching is too demanding, that it is humanly impossible to comply, are agreeing with Jesus! But the Church further affirms that, insofar as compliance is possible, it depends upon God’s grace, starting with the graces obtained through Baptism. Modern “progressives” within the Church who use human frailty as an excuse to relax standards (on chastity, for example) are denying Jesus’s salvific gift. Essentially they are rejecting the faith, salvation and sanctification that are the whole point of the Christian life.
