A house should be both a sound investment and a home to make memories in — don’t settle for less.
My approach to real estate is informed by my years of experience as a life coach. I try to be a good listener who asks a lot of questions to help both buyers and sellers achieve their best possible results.
I have a strong eye for details, and I’m pretty relentless in ensuring that every buyer finds that special place that feels like home. I use that same attention to detail to help decide which houses to visit. There’s a wealth of information out there, not just about individual houses, but also neighborhoods, schools and cultural resources. I work carefully with every client to sort through it all, simplify the search, and find unique gems that meet my client’s needs, ever mindful that the pleasure of a new home doesn’t stop at four walls, but extends into the surrounding neighborhood and community.
But the joy of a new home can quickly fade if it’s not a sound investment. I’m well equipped to help buyers assess the cold hard facts, from the condition and quality of the house, to trends in market prices in the neighborhood. My many years of experience in financial analysis, investment, bookkeeping, product assessment and home renovation are big assets in assessing the present and future value of a property. I’m committed to ensuring that every house shopping experience results in a sound investment decision.
When I work with sellers, I see my job as helping the house to sell itself, with a focus on setting the right price and carefully crafting the marketing plan. I prepare a thorough analysis of recent sales, the current competition, and market trends, along with detailed consideration of each home’s unique features, to help sellers set their price and prepare their house to highlight all it has to offer. My goal is to attract the right buyers – those for whom the house will feel like home. My coaching background includes certification as a mediator, which comes in handy in negotiations on either side of a deal.
When I’m not helping folks buy or sell their home, I might be found riding my road bike along the James River, walking with my wife, Marika, and our dog in the park, visiting VMFA, trying my hand at oil painting or poetry, exercising my handyman skills on my own home, or just chilling in the company of our four cats.
